FAQ

What is the difference between a pedicure and a medical pedicure?

A medical pedicure or a “Medi Pedi” is an advanced foot treatment performed by a nurse with advanced foot care authorization, in a safe and sterile environment. Unlike a traditional salon pedicure which focuses on making the feet look good, a nurse will address potential problems, will not neglect actual foot problems, and can help many common conditions improve. Medical pedicures can look at different aspects of your feet including the condition of your skin and even the bones underneath. They have the appropriate tools on hand, which regular pedicurists generally don’t, as well as more sophisticated technologies.

Is it painful or uncomfortable?

No. If there is a requirement for more advanced approach to removing certain problems we use numbing topicals to alleviate discomfort.

Do you paint my toenails?

A medical pedicure also does not end in a fresh coat of paint on your toes, this is because polishes can dry out your nail plate, leading to brittleness and discoloration. Instead of a bright glow of nail polish, your toes will glow with their own brilliance after a medical pedicure. *We will make exceptions to this for special occasions (wedding, vacation, etc. ) as it is not frequent and has shown not to affect nails drastically.

What happens during my foot care appointment?

When you come in for your medical pedicure, the entire process can take 30-90 minutes. Your nurse begins by reviewing your medical records and discussing your symptoms (foot/nail concerns). This involves discussing common health problems and medications you take regularly.

Next, your feet are examined for problems, including corns, blisters, calluses, and gait abnormalities. During this stage, we will also assess ankle-brachial index, loss of protective sensation, and your favorite shoes.

Once your nurse completes the examination, they sanitize and clean your feet. Then they use medical-grade sterile equipment to remove the dead skin and tissue, clip your nails, and thin out thick toenails.

Once your nurse has completed the main portion of the medical pedicure, they apply ointment between your toes and to your nails to help prevent athlete’s foot and nail fungus.

Finally, the nurse completes your medical pedicure with a gentle foot massage with an emollient to relieve pain, promote healing, and increase circulation.

Do I tip for a medical pedicure?

No. Nursing practice is held under a code of ethics that prohibits medical professionals to accept gratuities.

What forms of payment do you accept?
